Process for Visiting Students Receiving a Stipend or Fellowship

Visiting Students Receiving Stipend/ Fellowship

Some visiting students receive a stipend or fellowship as part of their visit with our institution. In these cases, the program or department will need to complete Disbursement Services’ Fellowship Award Authorization form (FAA.)

This information is located on their website: https://uthscsa.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/2009/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=40898

A student ID would need to be created using the Registrar’s Office visiting student Formstack application before submitting the FAA Form.  A separate request to Human Resources to produce an ID is not required.

**Please note: Visiting students can receive payment via stipend or fellowship, but cannot receive payment in the form of wages as an employee: (HOP 14.2.2):

Visiting Students are not employees of the University. They are to engage in activities that are directly related to the academic objectives at their home institution and are not to perform services for which the University typically compensates employees. Visiting Students are not entitled to wages or benefits. Visiting Student opportunities should not be offered with promise or expectation of wages or future employment.
