How to Update the Schedule of Classes: Review the List of Offered Courses and Classes

When reviewing the Schedule of Classes before registration each term, the inventory of classes being offered for the term must be reviewed and updated.

2. Review the Inventory of Courses Being Offered in the Term

2.1. Input a Term

Use the look up icon to assist you in inputting a term.

2.2. Optional: Input a Subject Area

Doing a search without the subject is a great way to see all classes that you have access to edit. If you can edit multiple subjects, you may want to input a subject area to narrow down your search results.

2.4. Review the List of Offered Courses in the Search Results

Before classes are opened for editing, the Schedule of Classes is created using the prior 'like' term as the guide (i.e. the Fall 2018 schedule is copied into Fall 2019 to assist with schedule of class updates).

2.5. Update As Needed

3. Review the Classes Offered for Each Course

Even if a course should be offered during a term, the offerings of the course may need to be updated.

Example: You may only have one section of the course scheduled, but you need to have an additional section of the course created this semester as it is taught in a different location or at a different time/date, etc.

3.1. Select the First (or next) Course Listed in the Schedule of Classes Search Results

Methodically go through each course that is being offered to ensure that all classes listed for the course are correct.

3.2. Review the Offered Sections of the Course

Use the navigation icons to review the different sections of the course.

When you see a non-enrollment section, note that you have a class with multiple components. For more information about classes with multiple class components reference How to Update Multiple Class Components in the Schedule of Classes

3.3. Modify class sections as needed

The Schedule of Classes can only be modified until the editing deadline. After the deadline, you must submit a form to have edits completed: https://students.uthscsa.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/210/2023/09/Schedule-of-Classes-Update-Form-09-25-2023-draft-1.pdf

This is a great time to review and update all the information about the class to ensure that it is correct.

3.4. Review the Next Record

Click 'Next in List' To View the Next Row of the Search Results Page (or optionally click 'Return to Search')
